Costa Rican authorities have exchanged guns for T-shirts

On Tuesday in Costa Rica passed the first stage of government actions, designed to show children the danger of weapons, transfers AFP, referring to the authorities of Costa Rica.

As explained agency, pupils of a school on the outskirts of the Costa Rican capital of San Jose were invited to exchange their existing Baby pistols, grenades and knives on school supplies and T-shirts bearing the words "Weapons? Thank you do not have to." According to police, on a proposal to exchange weapons for T-shirts responded hundreds of children.

The authorities do not intend to be limited to only one school, and plan to carry out such actions in a number of educational establishments. Moreover, as agency said initiative of Costa Rican authorities had been endorsed by the UN Development Program - organization providing development assistance to member countries to the program.

In Costa Rica, most developed market for illegal trade in firearms in connection with that country's armed forces were disbanded in 1948, and most of the arsenal came into private hands.
